Read-only. Private. In your control.
Automonie helps you see where your money goes. It was built so that it never needs the keys to your money.
Automonie can
- Read the bank alerts and statements you bring to it
- Sort every naira into a category you can change
- Show where your money goes and warn you before it runs out
Automonie can't
- Move money out of your bank
- Log in to your bank
- See your bank PIN, password or BVN. We never ask for them
Only what you turn on
Automonie only works with what you choose to give it:
- Bank text messages (Android): the app picks out messages that look like bank alerts on your phone and ignores the rest. Nothing leaves your phone until you choose to import.
- Email forwarding: you forward bank alert emails to a private address. We never ask for your email password, and you can stop any time by removing the forward.
- Statements: you upload a PDF, CSV or Excel file. We read it, then delete the file. A PDF password is used once to open it and never saved.
- Sharing and pasting: you send us the text of one alert at a time.
How we protect it
- Encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest in our database.
- Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, so nobody at Automonie can read them.
- Account numbers are shortened wherever we can, before they are stored or sent to an AI provider.
- Every request to your data is checked against your sign-in.
- Optional two-step verification, and on Android an app lock with your PIN or fingerprint.
- Payments are handled by Paystack or Google Play. Automonie never sees your card.
What our AI sees, and never sees
Most of Automonie runs on fixed rules we write: amounts, dates and whether money came in or went out are never decided by AI.
- Shop names: when our rules can't tell a category, a shop name may go to an AI provider, with every number and person's name removed first.
- Ask Automonie: your question and a summary of your money (totals, categories, budgets, goals and your 40 most recent transactions) go to an AI provider. We leave out your name and remove names and numbers from transaction descriptions. Don't type passwords, PINs, card or account numbers into the chat. Ask can suggest changing or deleting a transaction, but nothing changes until you tap Confirm.
Our privacy policy names each provider and the terms they work under.
We don't sell your data
We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we have no advertising trackers in the app or on this site.
